Review • L'Oreal True Match Foundation

L’Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation “Cappuccino/N8”
I’ve heard this foundation been mentioned a few times within the blogging/tube world and I though it was about time I did my own little review on this product, which is the L’Oreal True Match Foundation and mine is in the shade N8.

I mentioned in a first impressions video that you can watch here, I thought it wasn’t my cup of tea regarding everyday wear, but time has quickly revealed that I was wrong…because I wear this foundation every-single day! Let me give you a quick little rundown:
  • Warm, Cool & Neutral Shades
  • Lightweight
  • Buildable
  • Easy to Blend
  • Can manipulate Finish
  • 20 Shades (I’m Shade N8, for reference)
  • SPF 17

This foundation has a light to medium coverage which makes it perfect for everyday wear, I’d still stay it allows for natural flaws to “shine” right on threw with one layer, but with heavier application its nothing that can’t be controlled.

The formulation is really, really runny –I’m assuming this it what makes it so bendable. In my honest opinion, it’s a little annoying as I feel, I almost have to tilt my head backwards in the morning when I’m moving at snail pace just so it doesn’t drip of my face…buy hey ho, right?

The foundation is really easy to manipulate in the terms of finishes, if you want to go matte on day and then all luminous and glowly the next, you totally can with this foundation the only knock back is the staying power. I’m obviously used to wearing Revlon Colourstay foundation as an everyday wear, which is crazy to even think about now with such high coverage, but the staying power on that is just immense in comparison to this one which lasts for about 7 hours in total, but fades throughout.

This is indeed a favourite of mine, really light and wearable. It’s not something I feel inclined to repurchase until I’m grey and creaking, but overall I’m really happy with it and when I run out I’d probably repurchase, unless something new was in my horizon.

Red Lipstick Doesn't Suit Me

I’m always the first to admit “red lipstick doesn’t suit me one bit”, however today I thought I’d share with you some limited but useful knowledge of the tones of reds out there, and maybe help you find a red soul mate?

Blue Reds
Blue based reds are usually sported by, but not exclusive to those of us with a pale complexion. Obviously I’m not pale, but this is the tone of red that suits me the best I’d say. The blue base is also good at making your teeth look brighter and whiter.

My Favourite: Revlon’s Really Red

Orange Reds
These are the reds that look almost fiery, but still really warm at the same time, so they are said to suit those of us with an olive tone going on. I haven’t had an orange base in my grasp for sometime, so I can’t suggest a favourite, but let me know of yours.

True Reds
These are neutrals that are said to suit everyone, I’d have to be Boris the animal here and say “let’s agree to disagree” but generally speaking true reds are a safe haven and are found in most lines.

My Favourite: Avon’s First Kiss

Pink Reds
There are cooler tone pinks and hotter tone pinks; therefore this category is again semi-universal -The cooler the pink tone, the more likely to suit a pale complexion, and vice versa with darker pink tones.

Hopefully this was a little insightful, and remember just because something is meant to be for a cool tone and you’re a warm tone doesn't mean you can’t rock it just as well. There's today’s chunk of cheese, goodnight folks.

M.A.C Viva Glam X Rihanna

I’ve mentioned before, red lipstick doesn’t really suit me, However I still can’t resist the temptation and then this happened *shameful face*…but, wait my fellow friends and foes, technically I gave to charity as and I quote “every cent of the selling price goes to women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS” So, that made me fell tons better…

As normal this lipstick was priced at £15.50 and I brought it directly from MAC, purely because I don’t have to worry about authenticity and they deliver in no time…fortunately for my pocket, I don’t even have a MAC counter in my city.

On to the actual review then *slaps wrist for rambling*
Just before I do though, can anyone see the offending bleach London Bottle lying on my bed? You can read my review here if you like. Okay, Okay, I’m ready. The lipstick itself is a blue toned red, which is a plus for me as these are the only reds I can ‘manipulate’ into suiting me.

Although this lipstick is nothing special in the terms of lipsticks, and is possibly going to take on the least worn title in my lipstick collection, it’s actually pretty decent. It probably possesses the best colour pay off I own, like literally its super, super opaque in one swipe.

You can’t see from the photograph just how frosty this lipstick is, but do not be fooled it has an unmistakeable golden frost finish in person. Which is personally not my cup of tea, but if you don’t like it you can always powder it down.

Regarding the texture, it’s that perfect combination, creamy but not too soft it just smudges everywhere. In addition to this, because it’s so creamy it leaves the lips feeling super, super moisturised. The only downfall of this product is the fact it only last for a couple of hours, although in the fading period it doesn’t go patchy or bitty at all.

Pink Hair Don't Care: Bleach London Rose

We all know I’m a little bit of a sucker when it comes to colouring my hair, however I’ve never really addressed the topic in a post, no clue why? So, today I thought I’d tell you about my latest hair adventure with a bleach London and their temporary colour in the shade rosé.

I normally use crazy colours to stain my hair, and if I’m honest I find the little squeezey hole a little too annoying and I always end up taking the cap off –so I was rather happy a bit it having a screw top and me being able to blob it quickly. Otherwise, it applies just like any other colour crème/stain, you can use a brush for even distribution, but I just applied it with my hands –or rather, I got someone to apply it for me.

As you can see from the results, my hair went a really pale pink as suggested on the bottle; it did not cover my pervious green tips, in actual fact it turned it back to a blue-y colour.

The bottle says the stain lasts for 2 – 10 washes, which is actually quite a board spectrum, but for me I left my hair just under a week without washing or any heavy products and the colour faded significantly. Then once I got round to giving in a good wash through the colour couldn’t run away any faster –don’t get me wrong, my hair still has an *awful* pink huge to it, but its not really vibrant, it looks more peach.

I feel like I can’t give an honest review of the product itself as the colour itself was not for me, and therefore I do not like it –but on the other hand, there is nothing awful about the “actual” product, it’s not drying or at all damaging and it leave quite a pleasant smell. It’s a good product, but the colour itself was just not for me.

Current Hairstyle: Bun +& Up'do Hybrid

Lately I have been having a little too much fun with my new Babyliss Pro Curling wand, which I’m yet to review but you can always check out the video I hauled it in here. Anyway, whilst messing about I combined my love for sock buns and lightly tousled curls together to form this really “classy” and elegant looking ‘bun thing’.

It literally takes me just a minute or too to do it once I have figured out how low or high I would like my bun to be on that day. Every now and again I add a little extra something by half braiding and half cornrowing a plait into my hair and pulling it back into the bun.

A little hair inspiration for you maybe with the bun/Up’do hybrid.

Revlon Really Red Matte Lipstick

I’ve wanted to get Mac’s Ruby Woo now for the longest time, but I just haven’t had the guts to allow myself onto Mac’s website on pay day –we all know what the result would be! So, instead I picked up Revlon’s Matte lipstick in ‘Really Red’ which is said to be a really good dupe by numerous bloggers!

It’s a true retro red –not too orange, blue based, but not too blue based if you get my drift! And as for the pigmentation, one word “intense” (more words) one swipe is good enough and you’re good to go…

The staying power is excellent, it can go a good 5 hours without any touch ups on a Nandos date *so keep sippin’*. The only thing I would say although it’s not drying on the lips which is a first for the matte lipsticks I’ve tried, it almost drags onto my lips on application (however its nothing like this mua one) –but may just because I have quite dry lips, I've read other reviews and not many mention tugging!

My 18th Birthday

Hello Everyone!
So it was my eighteenth birthday last week and I really wanted to put up a post to say “oh my god, I’m actually 18” really, no structure, no backbone. I’ve taken my time to absorb the fact I’m actually a legit adult.
I had an absolutely lovely evening; I would say day, but I went to work with my dad the following night and didn’t get back until 7am, in which I hurled myself onto my bed and instantaneously zonked out. Although when I came home I was greeted by a delightfully decorated ‘Pink 18’ house and front door –Thanks Mum!
In the evening a few of my friends came round, one who I hadn’t seen in well over a year, so that was lovely –the card & present opening period seems to be lost in my mind, however I got some really, really lovely things and he cards I received *sighs* let’s just say, some brought me close to tears.
I was considering doing a “what I was gifted video” more for a personal log than anything, but I decided against the idea as that would mean putting the away soon and I’m still in the admiring period.
All in all I just wanted to thank everyone for coming and making the day special –and to the people who didn’t come, but has ever played/still plays a part in my life (good or bad) thank you so much for helping my become the girl, no woman I am today!
